A famous American evangelist Billy Graham said “Our world today so desperately hungers for hope. Yet uncounted people have almost given up. There is despair and hopelessness on every hand. Let us be faithful in proclaiming THE HOPE THAT IS IN JESUS.”
I wrote this song so that we can proclaim to the world our hope in Jesus.
We all had the experience that the dreams and hopes for the world and the future when we were young gradually faded as we learned more about reality. These days, even many young people can't find hope in their future and struggle. Our Hope we have in this world are conditional and based on our health, ability, skill, economic power, property, environment, opportunity, appearance, and prestige. The Hope supported by such conditions is very fragile and easily get lost. When we fall sickness, have an accident, be betrayed, deceived, or have broken relationships, we are suddenly attacked by sorrow, suffering, pain, and worry. We are discouraged and disappointed in life. You lose hope.
But the hope of a Christian is quite different from these conditions, and many people find hope in Jesus when faced with discouragement and disappointment.
"When sorrow strikes and my heart is troubled, I seek you, Lord."
Many churches have a Cross on their roof. The cross was one of the most gruesome instruments of execution in history. Many sinners and prisoners were executed with this device of death. But when people see thecross, they think of no other but Jesus Christ. Why? In the time of Jesus, people tried Jesus Christ, but they could not find him guilty at all. But they crucified Jesus Christ, the Son of God, because of their pride. On the cross, Jesus prayed for us, "Father, forgive them. They don't know what they are doing." This day was one of the darkest and most hopeless moments in human history.
But (we find hope in this "but"), three days after Jesus was laid in the tomb, he broke the power of death, broke out from the tomb, and rose again. Ultimately, we end our lives with physical death, but when we are disappointed by sorrow, pain, worries, and suffering in our lives, we experience "death" in a sense and lose hope in bits and pieces. The cross and resurrection of Jesus give us the hope to overcome the power of "death" that comes from this disappointment, and ultimately the resurrection from physical death and the hope of eternal life. Those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ will be connected to Him and live in the hope of resurrection power. It transforms any disappointment or disappointment in life into a life of hope that is never lost.
This is why churches have crosses on their roof. Any despair can be turned into hope in Jesus. Christians can remember this and sing "Hallelujah!" (Praise the Lord!) through the journey of their life.
With this song, I hope Christians will sing and declare their overflowing hope in Jesus.
